Digital Imaging Final
Statement
As I grow older, I am forced to recognize the placement of my social stance as an Asian American in the United States. Through this internal and external struggle, my eyes begin to open wide. As a result I am beginning to see things within my daily life in a different view. For instance, the two vacuums (one American the other Japanese), two different facial treatments, a diet of rice vs. wheat, fork or chopstick, bed mattress and futon…the list and choices go on.
For some, this may be nothing special; however, in my eyes as an artist I have begun to see this as my abstract identity, the foundation of my life. The constant merging and dividing lines rip me apart yet also tie me back together. In this project I seek to convey my identity and confusion that occur daily through my everyday household items.
